The Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club is one of the
oldest kennel clubs in the State of Maine. Exactly when it was formed is
not available at this time but we know it is over 50 years ago.
As an AKC Member Club, we have a delegate (Sue Goldberg) who attends the official AKC meetings where she represents our club, voices opinions and votes on numerous policies, rule changes, etc.
As our Constitution/By Laws states:
Our objects shall be:
a) To further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs
b) To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of all breeds of purebred dogs and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials
c) To conduct sanctioned matches, dog show and obedience trials under the rules of the AKC
d) To further the education of the public concerning the concept of purebred dogs
Our meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of each month at the Sabattus Town Hall. Since we reorganized in 2006 we are including educational programs at most of these meetings and the public is urged to attend and learn. Seminars and various health clinics have been held and will continue to be offered.
Any reputable person favoring the objects and purposes of the Club shall be eligible for membership. Two types of membership are available: Regular and Junior (for 10 to 16 years of age). The latter requires being proposed by a parent member or any adult member.
Applications for membership may be obtained from the Club Secretary and must be fully completed including endorsement from two members. Payment of Dues included. Approval is required of the Board and the General Membership.
